Плитка укладывается на кухне, было решено укладывать ее диагонально и начать укладку симметрично от входа, т.к. это самое просматриваемое место.
Относительно длинной стены находим диагональ, т.е. линию под углом 45 градусов к ней. Отмечаем ее на полу. Это направление нашей укладки.
Дальше прикладываем к ней плитку и вычисляем реальную линию межплиточного шва, вдоль которого мы начнем укладку. Мы выставляли плитку так, чтобы она оказалась четко посередине дверного проема и ее край (угол) находился во внешней его плоскости. Замеряем насколько нужно сдвинуть направляющую и параллельно первой диагонали чертим вторую, окончательную.
На фото видно первую линию, еле заметную и смещенную примерно на 10см вторую, более четкую.
Клей наносим гребенкой на пол вдоль линии (лучше оставить ее видимой и немного до нее не доходить) и обратной стороной гребенки наносим контактный слой на плитку. Можно поменять эти действия местами, никакой разницы.
Выставляем по уровню первую плитку. Уровень прикладываем к краю плитки, а не на середину, т.к. середина очень часто искривлена и правило попросту будет на ней прыгать. Край плитки всегда более ровный, по нему и нужно ее выравнивать.
Выставляем по двум плоскостям.
Дальше таким же образом приклеиваем вторую плитку. Ее уже можно выставлять по плоскости первой, но периодически все же стоит проверять уровнем.
И так далее. Так же периодически проверяем линию всей укладки, прикладывая вдоль ряда плитки правило.

Обычно мы укладываем всю целую плитку без подрезки в один день, а на следующий уже без спешки нарезаем и приклеиваем всю подрезку. Так привычнее, так удобнее.
Кто-то делает это сразу и даже начинает укладку с подрезки. Каждому свое.
После застывания клея, когда уже можно аккуратно ходить по плитке (обычно это на след. день) чистим все швы от остатков клея, пылесосим и замываем всю плитку начисто.
Ну и затирка швов.
